After graduating elementary school in her hometown, Shulamit moved in 1941 to Budapest to learn dressmaking. She lived in a dormitory operated by the Orthodox Jewish community. After the Germans invaded Hungary (19.3.1944) Shulamit stayed in Budapest and made close contacts with “Dror Habonim”. In October 1944, Asher Arany gave her and other girls in the dormitory Aryan identification cards. After a brief experience on the Aryan side of Budapest, Shulamit joined the Hűvösvölgy bunker, while her sister hid in a bunker on Hungaria Boulevard. Both bunkers were discovered, and all their occupants were taken to the central military prison in Budapest, where they were interrogated. They were released in a daring operation carried out by the underground. Shulamit made aliya, lived on a kibbutz and raised her family. She and her husband resided in Netaniya
